CONWAY ---- Coastal Carolina Baseball painted the nation teal with a successful 2025 season. The players, coaches, and even fans helped the program break multiple records throughout the year, which culminated in a Men's College World Series (MCWS) appearance. The team's run in Omaha, combined with the successful regular season, is leaving an impact on not only Chanticleer Athletics but the University as a whole.
Â
"Teal Nation has a great story to tell, and it was exciting to see the rest of the country recognize what makes being a Chanticleer so special," said
Chance Miller, vice president for intercollegiate athletics and university recreation. "Coach Schnall and his team captured national attention in Omaha, and their success, combined with the efforts of our entire University, has elevated Coastal Carolina's profile across academics, athletics, and our community."
Â
According to Meltwater, during the program's two-week trip to the MCWS in Omaha, Neb., Coastal most notably received $574 million worth of media exposure, at no cost to the University. This, coupled with data showcasing a total potential editorial reach of 62.1 billion and an estimated 18.4 million views across various channels, highlights the nationally growing interest in CCU.
Â
The social media analytics are equally impressive. According to Sprout Social, during the MCWS, Coastal earned more than 25,000 new followers across three of the major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and X) on the team and athletics department accounts. Thanks to 560 social media posts, the Chants finished the trip with 22.8 million impressions, more than 3.5 million video views, and 1.2 million engagements.
Â
The attention spread beyond Chanticleer Athletics; the University was also top of mind for baseball fans, prospective students, alumni, and more. The University's website, coastal.edu, saw a 105.6% increase in new users compared to the same time frame in 2024. The admissions page specifically saw a nearly 70% increase in active users.
Â
Additionally, CCU merchandise was shipped all over the country from both the Chanticleer Bookstore on campus and the Teal Nation stores in downtown Conway and Myrtle Beach. Teal Nation's limited edition baseball hats were a popular pick, with nearly 2,000 sold in 10 days. The Conway store saw a 206% increase in sales from the same time last year, with online orders dominating the market.
Â
High-performing athletics departments commonly have an impact on university enrollment, and they might be a contributing factor to another expected record year for CCU. Early enrollment numbers for the new academic year show an estimated total enrollment of 11,634 students, an increase from the 2024-25 record of 11,348.
Â
"Attending the College World Series was one of my first experiences as a Chanticleer, and it was incredible to see the overwhelming support from Chanticleer fans nationwide," said CCU President James J. Winebrake, Ph.D. "The achievements of this team, both athletically and academically, put a spotlight on our University that continues to strengthen our reputation and recognition in more ways than can be quantified."
Â
On top of achieving the highest GPA in program history, Chanticleer baseball had a nation-leading and school record 56 wins, Sun Belt Conference Championship, Sun Belt Tournament Championship, Conway Regional Championship, Auburn Super Regional Championship, and a 3-0 run in Omaha to the Men's College World Series Championship Final. Over the last quarter of the season, Coastal posted a 26-game winning streak, the fourth-longest winning streak in DI in the last five years.
Caden Bodine, catcher, won the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove award. Additional recognitions from the season include Coach
Kevin Schnall earning Sun Belt Coach of the Year and achieving the most wins by a rookie head coach in DI history.
