Sonya Woods was named associate director of strength and conditioning at Coastal Carolina University in July 2013. She works directly with women's basketball, women's soccer and softball, and assists with football.
Woods came to Coastal Carolina in 2008 after serving as a sports performance specialist at Athletic Republic of Charlotte in 2007. She was the assistant strength and conditioning coach at Winthrop University from 2004 to 2007 and worked directly with 10 of the Eagles' athletic programs and assisted with all of the teams. As a graduate student at Winthrop, she worked with the women's basketball program assisting with workout programs and all aspects of the program.
Certified by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, Woods earned two degrees from Winthrop University: a bachelor's degree in sport management in 2001 and a master's degree in physical education in 2007.
