Mark Payne joined the Coastal Carolina Department of Athletics in June of 2010. He is responsible for the oversight of the "External Team," which includes marketing, corporate sponsorships, ticketing, media relations, letterwinners club, cheerleading and video. Payne and his staff handle all marketing with respect to branding and ticket revenue as well as corporate revenue. In his first year with the Chanticleers, corporate revenue increased nearly 60 percent, as ticket revenue for football, men's basketball and baseball all increased as well. "I know first-hand what Mark can do in terms of bringing significant revenue to Coastal Carolina as I have worked with him before and have followed his career," said CCU Director of Athletics Hunter Yurachek. "Mark is a tireless worker, he is creative and builds great relationship within the community and among his co-workers. We are lucky to have a person with the credentials Mark possesses and are glad he and his family chose Coastal Carolina." Prior to working at Coastal, Payne worked for ISP (International Sports Properties) selling corporate partnerships for Auburn University, as well as regionally from the Atlanta hub of the company from 2005-10. Payne oversaw a list of business partners that included key regional and national accounts for the largest collegiate sports sales firm in the country. Before ISP, Payne was the Senior Account Executive at the University of Virginia with CBS Sports Properties, handling new business partnerships for the Cavaliers from 2003-2005. Payne also had stints internally with athletic departments doing a myriad of jobs including facilities, marketing, ticket sales and corporate sales at the University of Richmond, Georgia Tech and his alma mater, Stetson University. He earned his bachelor's degree from Stetson University. He and his wife Mandy have two daughters, Stephanie and Hutson. |
