Michael Jacobs joined the Chanticleer Athletic Foundation staff in September of 2016.
Jacobs previously served as the director of athletics ticketing at Coastal Carolina University since late 2012. He coordinated all operations and marketing efforts for the Athletics Ticket Office and lead the ticket sales efforts for the Department of Athletics, including Baseball, Basketball and Football as well as other team events. Under his leadership, a new ticketing system was implemented with a management system for fans, donor software for boosters, and an online student system.
He joined Chanticleer Athletics after serving as assistant director of athletics for marketing and ticket operations at Elon University for two years; he was hired at Elon in 2008 and was promoted to assistant AD in 2010.
Prior to Elon, Jacobs attended Ohio University where he earned two master's degrees in 2008, one in business administration and the other in sports administration. While attending Ohio University, Jacobs held a graduate assistantship with TicketReturn, a Charlotte-based box office solutions company. In this capacity, he participated in various conferences, was a guest lecturer and was a contributing writer to an upcoming book on ticketing technologies.
Jacobs spent time on various projects both in and out of the sports industry while a graduate student at Ohio University, working for the Clinton Global Initiative, New York Road Runners (New York Marathon), the Ohio Bobcat Club, NACDA Consulting and NACMA.
Jacobs earned a bachelor's degree in geography from the University of North Carolina Charlotte in 2005 following an internship in the Ticket Office. Jacobs later served as assistant ticket manager for the University of North Carolina Charlotte from 2004-2006.
Originally from Jacksonville Beach, Fla., Jacobs is the son of former Jacksonville University Director of Athletics Donald Jacobs. He and his wife Caitlin live in Myrtle Beach.
