CONWAY - Fifty student-athletes were among Coastal Carolina University's 975 degree candidates from May and August who participated in commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 5 at Brooks Stadium.
"I'm extremely proud of our student-athletes who are graduating," said Director of Athletics Hunter Yurachek. "Our goal is to build champions for life while winning championships and these student-athletes exemplify that mission, both in the classroom and the athletic arena. Our student-athletes have worked extremely hard throughout their time at Coastal Carolina and should be very proud of earning their degrees."
Heading the list were seven student-athletes who graduated with honors, earning a cumulative GPA of 4.0 (summa cum laude), 3.75-3.999 (magna cum laude) or 3.5-3.749 (cum laude).
Four-year women's tennis standout Diana Mortlock, who was named the 2012 Big South Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year, earned a perfect 4.0 GPA in marketing to graduate summa cum laude.
