Coastal Carolina University men’s track and field sophomore Jason Jensen has been named the Coastal Carolina Department of Athletics Athlete of the Week, it was announced May 11.
The Myrtle Beach, S.C., native reached the 200-foot mark for the first time in his career as he threw a career-best 200’2” (61.02 meters) in the hammer throw, on Sunday, May 9. Jensen placed second overall and first in collegiate competition. Jensen’s throw moved him up to 23rd in the East Region and 43rd in the NCAA.
Jensen and the Chanticleers will travel to Atlanta, Ga., as they enter in the Georgia Tech Invitational on May 14-15. The Invitational will be the last chance for the Chanticleers to qualify for the NCAA East Preliminary Round, taking place on May 27-29 in Greensboro, N.C.
