Promotions Calendar

Men’s Basketball

This week: IT'S BIG SOUTH TOURNAMENT TIME!! Coastal Carolina seeks its first Big South Tournament title and NCAA berth since the 1992-93 season. The quarterfinal and semifinal rounds of the tournament will be held at UNC Asheville’s Kimmel Arena. The No. 2 seeded Chanticleers play VMI in the quarterfinal round on Wednesday at noon. Should the Chants advance, they will play the winner of Winthrop/Campbell on Thursday at 6 p.m. The Big South Championship game will be played at the home of the highest remaining seed at noon on Saturday.

Last week: Coastal split its final two games of the regular season falling to Liberty on Thursday before defeating VMI on Saturday.

Coverage: The quarterfinals of Big South Tournament can be watched live via Big SouthSports.com. The semifinals will be carried on ESPNU and the title game will be televised on ESPN2.

Women’s Basketball

This week: Coastal (13-12, 6-10 Big South) takes to the road for the final two games of the regular season. The Chanticleers first take on Presbyterian College (Friday | 7 p.m.) before heading to Winthrop (Monday | 7 p.m.) for the regular season finale.

Last week: Coastal went 1-1 on the week falling to Campbell before earning a thrilling victory over High Point on Angelica Henry’s buzzer beater.

Coverage: The game will be broadcast live through the Chanticleer Sports Network and can be viewed on the Big South Network.

Baseball

This week: The CCU baseball team (3-3) hosts the Coastal Carolina Invitational featuring the Chants, St. John’s, Illinois and Pittsburgh. Coastal plays Pitt on Friday at Watson Stadium/Vrooman Field at 4 p.m. The Chanticleers are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday at Watson Stadium, hosting St. John’s at 1:30 and Illinois at 6 p.m. On Sunday, Coastal will wrap up the event by hosting Illinois at noon at Watson Stadium.

On Wednesday, March 7, Coastal will host its first mid-week game, welcoming UNC Wilmington to Watson Stadium for a 4 pm first pitch.

Last Week: The Chants evened their season score sheet to 3-3, defeating Iowa, 1-0, and North Carolina State, 3-2. Coastal dropped a 3-1 decision to Virginia Tech, spoiling an impressive pitching performance by Josh Conway, who struck out 10 with no walks over seven innings. Junior Ryan Connolly picked up the save in both weekend wins to earn The Crons Brand Big South Pitcher of the Week.

Softball

This Week: The Coastal Carolina softball team hosts the Coastal Carolina Invitational. Coastal plays Dartmouth at 3:30 p.m. and the University of Nebraska-Omaha at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The following day the Chanticleers will play Dartmouth at 11 a.m. and Saint Peter’s at 1 p.m. The Chants wrap up the tournament with a game against Saint Peter’s on Sunday at noon. Coastal is meeting Dartmouth and the University of Nebraska-Omaha for the first time in program history.

Last Week: Coastal hosted the Chanticleer Challenge and went 4-1, earning two wins over Temple, as well as against Sacred Heart. Freshman pitcher Kiana Quolas was named the Big South Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second straight week. Quolas finished the weekend with a 0.00 ERA and held opponents to a .135 batting average. The Chanticleers are 10-4 on the season and 7-2 in home games.

Women’s Indoor Track & Field

This Week: The Coastal Carolina women’s track & field team will compete in the Virginia Tech Final Qualifier in Blacksburg, Va. on Saturday, March 3.

Last Week: The Coastal Carolina women’s track & field team took second place at the Big South Conference Championships in Blacksburg, Va., this past weekend with 174.5 points, while Liberty won with 187 points. Coastal went into the second and final day of the event down 49.5 points to Liberty. Kierra Gabe was named the women’s Most Outstanding Field Performer for the second consecutive year. She won both the triple jump and the high jump. Coastal had 12 individuals and two relay teams take home all-conference honors for finishing in the top three of their respective events. Mary Lawrence was named to the All-Academic Team.

Men’s Outdoor Track & Field

This week: The Chanticleers kick off their 2012 campaign as hosts to the eighth annual Battle of the Beaches meet on Sunday. The meet, which gets underway at 11 a.m. with the javelin, features Coastal, UNC Wilmington and The Citadel fighting for the right to claim the surfboard trophy.

Women’s Outdoor Track & Field
This week: The Chanticleers kick off their 2012 outdoor campaign as they compete in the Battle of the Beaches meet on Sunday.  The ladies will compete as individuals in the events with no team scoring applied.

Women's Golf

This week: The CCU women's golf team will return to the course beginning on Friday with the opening round of the Darrius Rucker Intercollegiate hosted by South Carolina at the Long Cove Club in Hilton Head, S.C. The three-day event will conclude on Sunday.

Last week: The Chants turned in a 10th place finish at the Central District Invitational. Brittany Henderson led the Chanticleers with a 54-hole total of 218 to tie for sixth overall.

Women’s Tennis

This week: The Chants are set to play their second conference game on Friday, March 2 when they host Radford at the Billy Nichols Tennis Center beginning at 11 a.m.

Last week: The women’s tennis team improved to 5-0 and 1-0 in the Big South with a 6-1 win over Liberty on Saturday. The Chants remained perfect with a 5-2 victory against Wofford College on Sunday.
