Coastal Carolina University junior men's tennis player Matt Gordon has been selected as the Athletic Department's Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 1.

Gordon clinched the final point in a 4-3 win over The Citadel on January 28 in Charleston, S.C. Gordon defeated David Orces 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 2 position to solidify the Chanticleers first win of 2010 and his first win in a Coastal uniform. Gordon also partnered Peter Billingham in the No. 1 doubles for an 8-6 win over Orces and Yufo Sutintio.

Gordon and the Chants host "Community Day on the Clay" at the Prestwick Tennis Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on February 6. The Chants take on Campbell at 9 a.m., and Mount Olive at 3:30 p.m.
