Chants Walk Off Two Games to Secure Spot in SBC Tournament

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina softball team walked off the Troy Trojans in both games of its doubleheader to secure a spot in the 2026 Sun Belt Conference Tournament. The Chants earned a 2-1 victory in game one before claiming a 5-4 win in game two.

Game One: Coastal 2, Troy 1

The Trojans took a 1–0 lead in the top of the third inning when Ivey Presley hit an RBI single to right field, driving in Dailynn Motes.

After two scoreless innings, Delaney Keith came through in the clutch, belting a solo home run over the right-field wall to level the score at 1–1 with just one inning remaining in the game.

Coastal delivered a 1–2–3 inning in the top of the seventh, allowing Libby Pippin to record the walk-off RBI single and secure the 2–1 victory.

Kate Ryan improved to 6–3 on the year, allowing just one run on three hits over 5.0 innings of work.

Game Two: Coastal 5, Troy 4

Coastal built on its game one momentum in the bottom of the first inning, as Keith belted a leadoff home run and McKennah Metzger added a sacrifice fly to center field to give CCU a 2-0 lead.

Troy answered in the top of the second inning when Kalee Rochinski hit an RBI single and Motes followed with a three-run home run over the center field wall to put the Trojans ahead 4-2.

Coastal responded in the bottom of the second, as Georgia Hood laced a two-run single down the left field line to even the score at 4-4.

Metzger entered the circle in the top of the third inning and controlled the game, allowing just one hit while not surrendering a run over the next five innings to keep the score tied.

The Chants kept their composure in the bottom of the seventh inning, loading the bases with a walk and two singles. Livi Payne then stepped to the plate with one out and drew a bases-loaded walk to give Coastal a 5-4 walk-off victory.
