The Coastal Carolina Letterwinners Association, also reffered to in this document as the "Association," is composed of former student-athletes of Coastal Carolina University as well as former managers, trainers, coaches and administrators of the Coastal Carolina University Department of Athletics. The purpose of the Association is to:
A- Afford the opportunity for fellowship among members of the Association.
B- Honor former Coastal Carolina University student-athletes, coaches, and others associated with the Coastal Carolina University Department of Athletics through nominations to the Coastal Carolina University Athletic Hall of Fame.
C- Provide outreach to former Coastal student athletes.
A- ACTIVE MEMBER-Any former student-athlete of Coastal Carolina University who was listed on an official roster by the Coastal Carolina University Department of Athletics or received a letter in a sport which was later recognized and sponsored by the Department of Athletics shall be eligible upon his/her compliance with the provisions of the Constitution. In addition, all active and former coaches, managers, trainers and/or administrators in the Department of Athletics at Coastal Carolina University are eligible to be a member of the Association.
Officers and Directors
The Association shall be governed by a Board of Directors consisting of at least 15 persons as described below, including a Board Chair/President, Vice President and Executive Director. In addition, all past presidents of the Association and the Coastal Carolina University Director of Athletics shall be members of the Board and shall have all the rights of duly elected members. The Board shall elect its own Chair who will preside at all meetings. The Board Chair will also serve as President of the Association.
Each elected Director shall serve a term of two years and may succeed himself/herself for three consecutive terms. After a one-year absence from the Board, individuals may be reelected to the Board.
Members of the Board of Directors shall elect new members to fill any vacancies. Normally, such election shall take place at the Directors' annual meeting, but may be accomplished at a called meeting if necessary. The Board will make every effort to insure that as many sports as possible are represented on the Board and that men's and women's sports have appropriate representation.
Officers of the Association shall be elected be the Board of Directors and shall serve two-year terms.
A- The Chair of the Board of Directors shall also serve as President of the Association, presiding over any meeting held by the Association. In the event of his/her absence, the Vice-President shall preside.
B- The Executive Director shall be appointed by the Coastal Carolina University Director of Athletics and approved by the Association Board of Directors and shall keep the minutes and records of the Board of Directors as well as those of the Association.
At any meeting consisting of at least nine members present, the Board of Directors shall transact any business not in conflict with this Constitution and shall have the authority to delegate duties to the officers and to elect or appoint other officers and agents and to delegate their duties and authority.
Dues shall be determined annually by the Board of Directors and must be paid in full in order to remain an active member.
The fiscal year of the Association shall be identical to that of the Department of Athletics: July 1 through June 30.
Meetings of the Association shall be called by the President. The Executive Director shall be responsible for notifying the membership of such meetings.
Amendments and modifications to the Constitution may be made by a vote of approval of at least 2/3 of the members of the Board of Directors present. The Executive Director shall notify all members of the Board of Directors at least two weeks prior to any meeting in which amendments to the Constitution will be discussed.
