CONWAY, S.C. -- Coastal Carolina women's cross country senior Diana Jepchirchir (Kampala, Uganda/University of New Orleans) was named to the All-Southeast Region Team, it was announced on Tuesady, Nov. 13 by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Jepchirchir, the ninth Lady Chanticleer to receive All-Region honors, finished fifth overall at the NCAA Southeast Regional on Saturday, Nov. 10, completing the 6K course in a Big South and Coastal record time of 20:22.50. She also automatically qualified for the NCAA Cross Country National Championships that will be held Monday, Nov. 19 at 12:58 p.m. in Terre Haute, Ind. The top two teams plus the top four individuals not from those two teams automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships.
Jepchirchir's had an impressive senior season. She has been the top Lady Chanticleer in each of the five races she's ran. Jepchirchir won the Big South Conference individual title with a personal-best 5K time of 17:07.2 and garnered Runner of the Year honors. She also won the Coastal Carolina Invitational, placed 11th at the Brooks Paul Short Run and finished sixth at NCAA Pre-Nationals. She is a two-time Big South Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week.
