The Coastal Carolina University womens cross country team, under the direction of head coach Alan Connie, travels to Greenville, N.C., to compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships, held at Lake Kristi. The 6,000-meter race begins at 11 a.m.
The Lady Chanticleers are coming off winning their fourth straight Big South Conference Championship Oct. 30 in Rock Hill, S.C. Senior Anne Marie Moutsinga (Galati, Romania/Radu Negru) was Coastals top finisher, placing second with a time of 18:19. Freshman Christina Mohr (Ulmen, Germany) was named the Big South Freshman of the Year after finishing third with a time of 18:22. Seniors Kim Nemergut (Youngstown, Ohio/South Range) and Lindsay Kozlowski (Thunder Bay, Ontario/Port Arthur Collegiate) were named to the All-Big South team after finishing seventh and ninth, respectively.
Coastal will be one of 45 teams in Greenville, as the Chants will face teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference, Conference USA, the Southern Conference, the Colonial, the Atlantic Sun, the MEAC, the SEC, the Sunbelt, the Ohio Valley as well as the Big South.
The individuals will be looking to qualify for the NCAA Championships, which take place Monday, Nov. 24, in Terre Haute, Ind.
