CHARLOTTE, N.C.
– Coastal Carolina senior Diana Jepchirchir (Kampala, Uganda/University of New Orleans) has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, the League announced today.

Jepchirchir finished sixth overall with a Big South record time of 20:24.6 in the 6K Blue Race at the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday. About 300 meters into the race, her foot was stepped on but she still managed to become the Big South’s highest finisher ever in the Pre-National meet despite running with just one shoe for most of the race.  It also marked the sixth year in a row that CCU has had an individual in the top 20 at Pre-Nationals.

Coastal returns to action at the Big South Cross Country Championships in Hendersonville, N.C. The women's race is scheduled for a 10 a.m., start.
