Women's Cross Country Ties for 21st Place at NCAA Pre-Nationals

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Coastal Carolina University women’s cross country team travelled to Terre Haute, Ind., and Indiana State University to compete in the prestigious NCAA Pre-National Cross Country Championships, finishing in a tie for 21st place in the White Race Oct. 16. Coastal was competing with 12 of the top-40 teams in the country in the race.

The Lady Chanticleers had 571 points, tying with LaSalle for the 21st position. Fourth-ranked Colorado won the race with 94 points, followed by second-ranked Michigan with 109 points.

Senior Anne Marie Moutsinga (Galati, Romania/Radu Negru) was Coastal’s top individual finisher on the 6,000-meter course, placing 20th with a time of 21:07.7. Senior Kim Nemergut (Youngstown, Ohio/South Range) placed 105th with a time of 22:15.1. Freshman Christina Mohr (Ulmen, Germany) finished in 108th place with a time of 22:16.3. Freshman Aubrey Bergquist (Pataskala, Ohio/Watkins Memorial) was in 165th place (22:53.4), while senior Lindsey Kozlowski (Thunder Bay, Ontario/Port Arthur Collegiate) was 173rd at 22:57.3. Renee Mentevier of Colorado won the race with a time of 20:03.6.

Coastal will prepare for the Big South Conference Champoinships Saturday, Oct. 30, in Rock Hill, S.C.
