Women's Cross Country to Compete in the Blue Ridge Mountain Open on Friday

CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina women's cross country team returns to action on Friday, Oct. 14 at the Blue Ridge Mountain Open in Boone, N.C. The Chanticleers will compete in the 5-kilometer Gold race with the starting gun firing at 3 p.m.

A total of 26 teams will toe the starting line in the annual event hosted by Appalachian State. Included in the field are seven Big South Conference foes. Also entered is Furman, who ranks tenth in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Southeast region.

The Chants enter the event coming off their first 6k meet of the season at the Paul Short Run on Sept. 30. Senior Christian Johnson and sophomore Emily Marchini led Coastal at the meet with an identical time of 22:49. Janel Reeves was the third Chanticleer to cross the finish line with a time of 23:32. Additionally, sophomore Seanna Kautz returned to head coach Alan Connie's lineup for the first time this season after recovering from an injury sustained last season.
