CHARLOTTE, N.C.
– Coastal Carolina senior Diana Jepchirchir (Kampala, Uganda/University of New Orleans) was named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, the League announced today (Oct. 3).

Jepchirchir finished 11th out of 317 runners in the Brown Championship of the Brooks Paul Short Run over the weekend.  She finished the 6K race with a time of 20:57 and became just the third female runner in Big South Conference history to break the 21:00 minute mark in the 6K.  She is the only current female runner to break the 21 minute plateau as her time was 50 seconds faster than her mark at the Brooks Paul Short Run a year ago.

Coastal Carolina returns to action with a pair of meets on Saturday, Oct. 13. The Lady Chanitcleers will compete at NCAA Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind., as well as the Low Country Invitational in Johns Island, S.C.
