They’re Off And Running
For the third consecutive year, Coastal Carolina opens its season at the Covered Bridge Open in Boone, N.C. The Lady Chanticleers finished third in both 2005 and 2006. 

Coastal Returns Nine...
Coastal Carolina welcomes back three seniors (Aubrey Bergquist, Nikki Jasperson and Diana Jepchirchir), two juniors (Felicitas Mensing and Keli Jo White), three sophomores (Peggy Busbee, Theresa Schamberger and Kathryn Zenowitz) and one redshirt freshman (Maranie Staab) to the 2007 team. 

...And Welcomes Four
Coastal’s roster will include four freshmen this year with Joyce Curtin, Shelby Donahue, Kate Taber and Rindi Wood all joining the team.

On The Schedule
The Lady Chanticleers have three 5K races and three 6K’s on its 2007 slate. Coastal will run a 5K in the season’s first two meets and then again at the Big South Conference Championships. The Paul Short Run, NCAA Pre-Nationals and NCAA Regionals are all 6K races.

Lady Chants Second in Preseason Poll
Coastal Carolina garnered 115 points and three-first place votes to place second in the annual Big South Conference Preseason Poll. Defending champion Liberty took the top spot with 125 points and 13 first-place votes.

Two Top 10s For Mensing at Covered Bridge Open
In her career, junior Felicitas Mensing has placed in the top 10 at the Covered Bridge Open. As a freshman, Mensing was ninth with a time of 19:14.63. Last year, Mensing covered the course in a time of 18:35.39 and finished fifth.

Looking Ahead
Coastal hosts its annual Coastal Carolina Invitational on Friday, Sept. 14 at 5:45 p.m. at Quail Creek Golf Club in Conway.
