Women's Cross Country Picked Second In Big South Preseason Poll

CONWAY, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina University women’s cross country team has been selected to finish second in the Big South Conference Preseason Poll, as announced by the league office. Liberty was selected by the coaches as the preseason favorite with seven first-place votes, followed by the Chanticleers, who received three first-place votes.

High Point was selected third with 80 points. Radford picked up 66 points, which was good for the No. 4 spot, while Winthrop edged out VMI for the No. 5 slot with 54 points, leaving the Keydets No. 6 with 53 points.  Big South newcomer Gardner-Webb (39 points), UNC Asheville (34), Presbyterian (20) and Charleston Southern (17) rournded the voting for the women.

Coastal Carolina opens up its 2008 season at the Gamecock Invitational on Fri. Aug. 29 in Columbia, S.C., followed by its annual home meet, the Coastal Carolina University Invitational on Sat. Sept. 13 at Quail Creek Golf Club in Conway.
