Women’s Cross Country Team Recognized for Academic Achievements

CONWAY, S.C.- Coastal Carolina’s women’s cross country team, led by head coach Alan Connie, were recognized for its outstanding achievements in the classroom this past season as it was named to the 2004 All-Academic Cross Country Team with Distinction by the Women’s Intercollegiate Cross Country Coaches Association (W.I.C.C.C.A.), Tuesday, May 17.

The Coastal women’s team was ranked among the top-50 nationally (47th) with a collective team grade point average of 3.408. This is the eighth consecutive season that Coastal Carolina women’s cross country program, earned Distinction. Only 75 schools nationally earned the distinction honor this season and had a team grade point average of 3.25 and higher.

Besides Coastal, the only other Big South school to be recognized by W.I.C.C.C.A. was High Point University with a team GPA 3.310.

Coastal women’s track and field team will send five athletes to the NCAA East Regionals at Ichau Stadium on Randall Island, hosted by Manhattan College May 27-28.
