Personal Records Highlight Chants Day at NCAA Regional
Nov. 12, 2011 Complete Results Virginia and North Carolina State finished first and second, respectively, earning the regional's automatic qualifying spots at the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. Kendra Schaaf of North Carolina won the meet with a time of 19:52. Christian Johnson, an All-Big South Conference performer, paced Coastal in the meet for the fourth time this season . The senior crossed the finish line in a personal-best time of 22:10 to capture 88th place in the 240-competitor field. Emily Marchini finished second for the Chants as she placed 126th with a 22:42 clip. Classmates Seanna Kautz and Shelby Nicosia recorded identical personal-best times of 23:07 to place 155th and 156th. Jessica Dennisonrounded out the Coastal scorers with a 6K personal-best of 23:17 to place 164th. Sophomore Stephanie Taylor (23:26) and junior Janel Reeves (23:47) also represented Coastal Carolina in the meet. "I am very proud of the way our team competed today," said head coach Alan Connie. "With such a young team our performance today will provide a great building block for what we look to accomplish in the coming years." The Chanticleers will now turn their efforts toward the indoor track and field season which begins in January. |
