Shelby Donahue led the Coastal Carolina women’s cross country team to a win in the 5k Coastal Carolina Invitational today (Sept. 18.)

The junior won the race with a time of 18:48.55. Fellow Junior Maranie Staab followed Donahue placing second with a time of 19:02.76.

The Chanticleer women took the four through seven spots as freshman Janel Reeves finished with a time of 19:06.01, followed by Christian Johnson at 19:44.66, Theresa Schamberger at 19:59.89 and Emma Hulburd at 20:06.93.

Coming in ninth and 10th were juniors Joyce Curtin at 20:19.51 and Rindi Wood at 20:22.34. Jessica Dennison finished two spots behind with a time of 20:29.84, and rounding out the field for Coastal Carolina was Kathryn Zenowitz at 22:48.96.

The Chanticleer’s averaged a time of 19:20.35, placing above Limestone College and South Carolina State.

The Chanticleers make the long haul to Bethlehem Pa., to compete at the Paul Short Run on Friday, Oct. 2.
