Volleyball Signs Mauck

CONWAY, S.C. -- Coastal Carolina volleyball Head Coach Kristen Bauer has announced the signing of Kelsie Mauck (Muncie, Ind./Delta), who is the first player to sign with Coastal for the 2008 season.

"Our team is thrilled about Kelsie joining our Chanticleer squad," Bauer said. "She will bring a lot of experience to the setting position after playing with such a successful high school and club program.  Constant competition is what we expect to see at practice and we look forward to Kelsie pushing her teammates and especially our setters to compete each day."

A native of Muncie, Ind., Mauck spent the last four years as a setter for Delta High School. She ended her career as Delta's all-time assists leader. Mauck is a three-time All-County and All-Hoosier Heritage Conference selection and two-time All-State honoree. She was selected as Delta's MVP as a senior.

Mauck, who played club volleyball for eight years with Munciana, helped Delta to four-straight sectional championships. During Mauck's junior season, the Eagles also captured the regional crown and advanced to the final four in the state championships. The Eagles won the county championship during Mauck's freshman and senior seasons and the conference championship her freshman and sophomore seasons.

Coastal finished the 2007 season with an overall 15-17 record and a 6-6 mark in the Big South. The Lady Chanticleers advanced to the semifinals of the Big South Tournament before falling to the regular-season and eventual tournament champion Liberty.
