Volleyball Opens the Big South Tournament to a 3-0 Victory over

ROCK HILL , S.C.-- Seniors Katie Knutson (Fort Erie, Ont.) and Lauren Wozniak (Baden, Pa.) tallied 15 and 13 kills, respectively, as second-seeded Coastal Carolina cruised to a 3-0 victory over the seventh-seeded Charleston Southern Lady Bucs. The game scores for the match were 30-24, 30-24, 31-29. With the win, Coastal advanced to the second semifinal on Friday against the winner of No. 3 Winthrop-No. 6 Radford.

Coastal improved to 21-10 with the win, while Charleston Southern fell to 8-27 overall.

Senior Jeanne Lambert (Burnsville, Minn.) had 16 digs for the Chants, while freshman Jennifer Hampton (El Toro, Ca.) contributed 11 digs to the cause. Junior Carly Draudt (Dove Canyon, Ca.) also had 10 digs in the match. Knutson led CCU with four aces, while Wozniak had the top hitting percentage on the squad with a .435 clip.

Charleston Southern, who managed just a .110 hitting percentage in the match, was led by freshman Katie O’Riordan who had nine kills and 16 digs, both team highs. O’Riordan also boasted a .368 hitting percentage for the contest. Senior Kristyn Schebil and junior Rachel DeAngelo posted 11 digs each.
