CHARLOTTE, N.C. –The Coastal Carolina University volleyball team earned the No. 5 seed in the upcoming Big South Volleyball championship and will face No. 4 Winthrop, it was determined today as the Conference season concluded. The tournament will begin on Thursday, Nov. 18 and will be played at the Winthrop Coliseum on the campus of Winthrop University.
Liberty finished the season with a 14-2 Big South record and was named the Big South Volleyball Regular-Season Champion. The Lady Flames earned the No. 1 seed in the event.
High Point finished the Conference slate with a 13-3 record and will be the No. 2 seed, while UNC Asheville went 11-5 to earn the No. 3 slot. Winthrop marked a 10-6 record to pick up the No. 4 seed and Coastal Carolina finished the Big South season at 7-9 to pick up the No. 5 seed. Charleston Southern finished the season at 6-10 in the Big South to land at the No. 6 spot, and Radford’s 5-11 League record was good for the No. 7 seed. Gardner-Webb rounds out the seeding at No. 8 as it went 0-16 in League play.
The 2010 Big South Volleyball Championship begins Thursday, Nov. 18 with four matches, and concludes with the Championship game on Sunday, Nov. 20 in Rock Hill, S.C. The Big South’s tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Volleyball Tournament. The Conference Championship schedule is as follows:

Match 1: No. 2 High Point vs. No. 7 Radford, 12:00pm ET
Match 2: No. 3 UNC Asheville vs. No. 6 Charleston Southern, 2:30pm ET
Match 3: No. 1 Liberty vs. No. 8 Gardner-Webb, 5:00pm ET
Match 4: No. 4 Winthrop vs. No. 5 Coastal Carolina, 7:30pm ET
Friday, Nov. 19 (semifinials) – Rock Hill, S.C.
Match 5: Match 1 winner vs. Match 2 winner, 4:30pm ET
Match 6: Match 3 winner vs. Match 4 winner, 7:00pm ET
Saturday, Nov. 20 (Finals) – Rock Hill, S.C.
