CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina volleyball team will play in their final regular season matches this weekend at High Point on Friday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. and at Campbell on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m.
Coastal is traveling to High Point, N.C. on a two game win streak and will be looking to earn their second straight win over the Panthers.
The Chants last beat Big South opponent Charleston Southern 3-1 on Nov. 5. Coastal dropped the first set 25-22, but took the next three sets by scores of 25-23, 27-25 and 25-20. Sophomore Lindsay Gill tied her season-high of three service aces during the match and fellow classmate Kindra Bailey recorded a career-high 13 kills. Sophomore Sam Skryd also recorded a season-high .667 attack percentage, as well as nine kills.
The Chanticleers are averaging 14.5 digs, 11.8 kills, 10.9 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 aces a set. Freshman Katie Martin is leading the team in service aces (36), points (309.5) and blocks (80). Senior Erika Lightsey is leading the team in kills with 281 and Gill has 412 digs on the season. Skryd has a team-high 723 assists.
The Chanticleers won their first Big South Conference match against High Point earlier this season, winning by a score of 3-0. Freshman Lian Bernett led the way for the Chants, finishing the match with 13 kills and 10 digs. Bailey and Skryd each had a block for Coastal and Skryd also tallied 28 assists in the win. Martin posted two service aces in the match.
High Point heads into the match coming off of a 3-0 win against North Carolina Central. The Panthers lost the first set 25-23, but earned 25-18, 25-14 and 25-18 wins over the next three sets.
The Panthers are averaging 15.4 digs, 11.3 kills, 10.3 assists, 1.7 blocks and 1.2 aces per set. The Panthers have an attack percentage of .162. Courtney Johnk is leading the team in kills (266), service aces (27), and blocks (53). Lauren Bell has a team-high 732 assists and Chelsea Davis has 236 digs on the season.
The Chanticleers own a 23-9 all-time record over the Panthers.
Coastal will be looking to avenge a 3-1 loss it suffered at home earlier this season to Campbell when they travel to Buies Creek, N.C. Although Coastal lost earlier this season to the Camels the Chants still hold the 16-7 advantage in the all-time record.
The Camels host to Charleston Southern on Friday, Nov. 11 before playing Coastal in their final regular season match. The Camels are currently on a two game losing streak having fallen to Big South Conference opponent Liberty on Nov. 4 and Radford on Nov. 5, both by a score of 3-2. During the match against Radford, the Highlanders won the first two sets 25-15 and 25-16, before the Camels took the next two sets 25-10 and 25-22. Radford pulled out the 15-10 win in the fifth set.
Campbell is averaging 14.28 digs, 10.33 kills, 9.36 assists, 1.95 blocks and 1.32 service aces per set. The Camels have a hitting percentage of .156. Jordan Reaves is leading the team in kills per set (2.72), while Annie Kobeski has a team-high .199 hitting percentage and 0.90 blocks per set. Heather Wilson is leading Campbell in service aces per set (0.27).
