Hardeman Voted Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week
NEW ORLEANS, La. - Coastal Carolina senior outside hitter Leah Hardeman has been named the Sun Belt Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for the fifth time this season, making her the league’s only student-athlete to win a weekly award five times on the year.
Hardeman led Coastal to a 2-0 weekend with road wins at Georgia Southern (3-2) and Georgia State (3-0). The pair of victories extended Coastal’s current winning streak to 10 matches, and moved the Chanticleers into first place overall in the Sun Belt with a 16-7, 13-1 record.
The Clarkston, Ga., native averaged 5.00 kills per set with a .314 hitting percentage over the weekend. Hardeman started with 26 kills and 10 digs against the Eagles to tally her 15th double-double of the season, and followed with 14 kills and nine digs against the Panthers. Overall, she finished second for Coastal in digs per set with 2.38. Hardeman also added five service aces and assisted on five blocks to lead all Sun Belt players with 47.5 points.
It is the second time in her career that Hardeman has earned a conference’s weekly award five times in a single season. In 2014, she was voted the Big South Freshman of the Week on five occasions.
Hardeman and the Chants finish the regular season next weekend with matches at South Alabama (Nov. 10) and Troy (Nov. 11).
