CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Junior middle blocker Kindra Bailey led Coastal Carolina to wins over Radford and Liberty to be named the Choice Hotels Big South Volleyball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
The pair of wins moved the Chants into a tie for first-place in the Big South Conference standings with Liberty and Presbyterian, both of whom Coastal has beaten this season.
Bailey played a key role in Coastal Carolina's 2-0 week. She totaled 21 kills with a .467 percentage, seven service aces, six digs and 13 blocks. In the Chants' 3-2 win against Radford, Bailey posted eight kills, three digs and eight blocks. She then recorded another 13 kills, three digs and five blocks in the 3-1 win over Liberty. Bailey averaged 2.33 kills and 1.44 blocks per set.
Bailey becomes the second Chanticleer to be named BSC Volleyball Player of the Week this season joining freshman Gabriella Horvath who was given the honor Oct. 1.
The Chants return to action tomorrow, Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. as they host SEC foe and in-state rival University of South Carolina. This marks the first time the Gamecocks have traveled to Conway for volleyball.
