LYNCHBURG, Va. Jennifer Belk tallied 18 kills and 23 digs as Liberty knocked off Coastal Carolina 3-1 (30-25, 32-30, 24-30, 30-26) Saturday afternoon in Big South women's volleyball action from the Vines Center.
The win lifts the Lady Flames record to 8-11 overall and 3-2 in
league play while the Lady Chanticleers fall to 10-6 and 2-1 respectively.
In the opening game Liberty broke open a 24-24 tie by scoring six of
the game's final seven points in taking a 1-0 lead in the match. The Lady
Chanticleers held a game point at 29-28 in the second game but the Lady
Flames rallied with two kills each by Erin McKeown and Tatiana Thackuk during the final five points of the second game in taking a 2-0 edge in the match.
With the score knotted at 18-18, Coastal Carolina won the third game
by scoring 12 of the final 18 points to trim the Lady Flames match lead to
2-1. The Lady Chanticleers held a 23-21 edge but Liberty rallied in the
fourth game to take the match.
McKeown tallied a double-double with 14 kills and a team high 23
digs to help the Lady Flames effort. Thackuk posted 15 kills and eight total
blocks in the four-game effort.
Katie Knutson (So., Fort Erie, Ontario) posted a team best 18 kills
for the Lady Chanticleers while Jeanne Lambert (Sr., Burnsville, Minn.)
recorded a match high 26 digs.
