Horvath Named Choice Hotels Big South Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Freshman outside hitter Gabriella Horvath was named the Choice Hotels Big South Volleyball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

Horvath, a native of Budapest, Hungary, led the Chants to a pair of 3-2 victories this past weekend on the road at High Point and Campbell. With the wins CCU moved into first place in the Big South standings with a 3-1 conference record. The last Chant to receive the player of the week award was Megan Bickford in October of 2009.

Horvath was the Chanticleers' leading hitter this past weekend, posting 18 kills in the 3-2 win at High Point and 21 kills in the 3-2 win at Campbell.  She finished the week with 39 kills and a .333 hitting percentage.  In the match versus High Point, she also managed 13 digs, four service aces and four blocks.  Against Campbell, she recorded one service ace, eight digs and two blocks.

The Chants return to action tomorrow, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. as they travel to Lowcountry rival College of Charleston.
