Volleyball's Kimes Collects Second Big South Freshman of the Week Honor

CHARLOTTE, N.C.
– Coastal Carolina's Chelsy Kimes (Munster, Ind./Munster) was tabbed the Big South Conference New Balance Freshman of the Week, the League announced today.

Kimes, an outside hitter, recorded 58 kills, 5.27 kills per game, 24 digs and one block as the Lady Chanticleers went 2-1 on the week, including a Conference win over UNC Asheville on Sept. 28.  She started her week with 21 kills, a .356 hitting percentage, 10 digs and one block as Coastal downed UNC Wilmington, 3-1.  Three days later against the Bulldogs, Kimes stayed hot as she put away 19 kills, hit .385 and came up with four digs as the Lady Chants blanked UNCA, 3-0.  She closed out her week with 18 kills, five aces and 10 digs against future Big South member Presbyterian on Sept. 29.  With two double-doubles on the week, Kimes now has six double-doubles on the season.

Coastal Carolina returns to action on Friday when the Lady Chants visit Radford. Match time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
