Volleyball Player from CCU Named Big South Player of the Week

CONWAY, S.C.– Sophomore Katherine Jensen (Vancouver, B.C./Sentinel Secondary) has been named the Choice Hotels Big South Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 29. Jensen helped the Lady Chanticleers to a 3-0 record last week and extend their winning streak to five matches.

Jensen had a .393 hitting percentage with 45 kills on 84 attempts for a 5.00 kills per game average. Against UNC Wilmington Sept. 23, Jensen had 15 kills and eight digs in the three-game win. She then had two straight double-doubles in wins over High Point, Sept. 26, and Charlotte, Sept. 27. She had 13 kills and 12 digs in the three-game win over the Panthers and had 17 kills and 10 digs in the win over the 49ers. For the week, Jensen averaged 3.33 digs per game and had seven service aces.

On the season, Jensen is hitting .224 with 3.67 kills per game and 3.77 digs per game. Her digs mark leads the Big South over second place Coastal freshman Kristin Rinne (Fountain Hills, Ariz./Fountain Hills).

Coastal Carolina (9-6, 1-0 Big South) steps back into Big South play Tuesday, Sept. 30, against Charleston Southern University. That match starts at 7 p.m. in Kimble Arena.
