Hardeman Earns Third Sun Belt Weekly Honor
NEW ORLEANS, La. - Leah Hardeman has been voted the Sun Belt Conference Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon. It is the third time in the last four weeks that the Chanticleer senior has earned the weekly award.
Hardeman led Coastal to a 2-0 start in Sun Belt Conference play this past weekend with wins at Arkansas State on Friday and Little Rock on Saturday.
The Clarkston, Ga., native led all Sun Belt players for the week averaging 6.38 kills per set while posting a .438 hitting percentage. Hardeman put down 19 kills in the win at A-State, moving her into fourth place among Coastal’s all-time career kills leaders. She then outdid that performance with 32 kills against Little Rock to set a Coastal Carolina single-match record. The previous record of 27 kills in a match was also held by Hardeman.
Hardeman’s 51 kills for the weekend brings her career total to 1,499, just 62 kills behind Jeanne Lambert (1998-02) who ranks third all-time in program history in the category.
This past weekend also saw Hardeman record her seventh and eighth double-doubles of the season as she added 14 and 16 digs against the Red Wolves and Trojans, respectively.
Hardeman and the Chants make their 2017 home debut this weekend with a pair of matches at the HTC Center. Coastal and UTA square off at 6:30 pm on Friday, followed by a 12:30 pm match versus Texas State on Sunday.
