Last Week’s Honors:

Tuesday Night Delight

Double-doubles and Tuesday nights go hand-in-hand for freshman Chesly Kimes. She’s tallied a double-double in both of Coastal’s Tuesday night matches, with 10 kills and 15 digs against the College of Charleston (Aug. 28) and 13 kills and 12 digs against South Carolina State (Sept. 18).

Starbuck Nears Single-Season Best For Digs

Junior Brett Starbuck is closing in on her single-season career-best digs. Starbuck currently has 281 digs, just 32 shy of her single-season best of 313.

Ace, Ace, Ace

Sophomore Megan Pollard has tallied at least one service ace in five of her last six matches, with 10 of her 16 aces coming in those matches.  Included in those matches were a pair of three-ace matches, which is her season-high.

West Contributes To Last Two

Coastal’s final two points against Charleston Southern were largely due to senior Devon West. After entering the match late in the third game, West had a dig and an assist on sophomore Meagan Tracey’s kill to make the game 29-20. West closed out the match with the winning kill.

Familiar Face, Different Team

UNC Wilmington assistant coach Jeanne Lambert will be a familiar face to head coach Kristen Bauer. Lambert played under Bauer for three seasons and became the first Coastal player to garner Academic All-America and Academic All-District honors. She is Coastal’s all-time career leader for games played (464), total attacks (4,855) and digs (1,916). She also holds Coastal’s single-season digs record with 560 set in 2002.

No Blocks About It

With no blocks against South Carolina State, it was the first time a Coastal team under head coach Kristen Bauer did not register a block in a match. Until last Tuesday, the fewest number of blocks Bauer’s teams have registered have been one, which has happened nine times.

Road Stop

The Lady Chanticleers’ eight-match homestand is their second longest span of home matches since 1988. The longest stretch is 12 matches in 2003. Coastal hosted a pair of tournaments and then welcomed UNC Wilmington, High Point, Charlotte, Charleston Southern, Radford and Liberty that season.

Kimbel Sweet Kimbel

Coastal Carolina knows how to defend its home court. Since 1987, the Lady Chanticleers are 165-89 in home matches, including having won nine of their last 11 matches at Kimbel Arena.

The Home Court Advantage

Coastal has gone 13-6 in its first Big South Conference home match since 1988. In her tenure, head coach Kristen Bauer has guided the Lady Chants to a 6-3 record in conference home openers.

Cleaning Out The House

In its last 11 home-openers, Coastal Carolina is 7-4. Out of those 11, eight matches had scores of 3-0, including six of Coastal’s wins.

When In September

Under head coach Kristen Bauer, Coastal Carolina is 53-61 in the month of September, including 7-4 this year. The most matches Coastal has won in a single September was nine in 2003, finishing the month with a 9-4 record.
