Hardeman Wins Second Consecutive Conference Award
NEW ORLEANS, La. - Senior outside hitter Leah Hardeman has been named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in as many weeks, the league announced Monday.
Hardeman led Coastal to a 1-1 record this past weekend at the UNC Greensboro Spartan Spiketacular, including a three-set sweep of American University on Saturday.
The Clarkston, Ga., native paced the Chants averaging 4.83 kills per set and posted the team’s third-highest hitting percentage at .301, including a .444 percentage in the win over American. Hardeman’s 14 kills against the Eagles on Saturday were followed by 15 kills against Florida Atlantic the next day, and she added 10 digs to Sunday’s final line for her fifth double-double in seven matches this season.
Hardeman’s previous Offensive Player of the Week award followed a terrific performance at the Iowa Hawkeye Classic, where she was voted to the all-tournament team while averaging 4.18 kills per set and hitting .327.
Hardeman and the Chants wrap up their nonconference schedule this weekend with a pair of matches in North Carolina. Coastal is at Duke on Friday for a 7 p.m. match, followed by a 7 p.m. match at UNC on Saturday.
