Volleyball Falls to Howard in Five Games Friday at the Georgetown Classic

Three Lady Chanticleers have double digits in kills in the loss

Washington-D.C.- The Coastal Carolina volleyball team falls to 1-6 on the season after losing to Howard University in the Georgetown Classic despite taking the match to five games on Friday, 23-30, 24-30, 30-10, 30-28, 14-16.  The Lady Chanticleers had three players have double digits in kills. 

Senior Ashley Scheible (Westerville, Ohio/North) had 12 kills, nine digs and one block assist on the day, fellow senior Laura Obert (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) had 14 kills and freshman Jill Nyhof (Alpharetta, Ga./Northview) had 10 kills and 5 digs. Also having strong performances for the Lady Chants were Junior Nakia Thompson (Lexington, S.C./Lexington)  who had eight kills and 11 digs, sophomore Brett Starbuck (Glen Allen, Va./JR Tucker) with 13 digs and senior Kristin Rinne (Fountain Hills, Ariz./Fountain Hills) had 12 digs. 

The Lady Chanticleers had 62 kills with a .121 hitting percentage on 41 errors with 77 digs, nine service aces and five team blocks while Howard had 42 kills with  .102 hitting percentage on 26 errors, seven service aces and nine team blocks. 

Coastal continues play tomorrow in the Georgetown Classic when they take on Campbell at 11 a.m.
