CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Senior Jill Nyhof of the Coastal Carolina University volleyball team earned Big South Defensive Player of the Week honors, announced today by the league office.

Nyhof was named to the Mortar Board Premier All-Tournament Team after finishing the weekend with 22 kills and 18 blocks, including a career-high 13 blocks (five solo, eight assisted) in the first match against Dayton, the highest block total in the Big South since before 2003. Nyhof paced the Chanticleers with 12 kills off 21 total attacks for a .524 hitting percentage to lead Coastal Carolina to its first win of the season over Ball State, 3-1.

Nyhof also earned the Mortar Board Highest Overall GPA award for Coastal Carolina with a 4.0 grade point average.
