The Chanticleers kick off the tournament Friday morning against the University of Tennessee at Martin in Georgia Tech's O'Keefe Gym before squaring off against the host Yellow Jackets in Friday's nightcap at 7:30 p.m. Georgia Tech owns an 8-1 all-time record against Coastal Carolina, though the Chanticleers did win the last match between the teams in 2013. Friday's match against UT-Martin will mark the first meeting between the Chants and Skyhawks.

The tournament concludes on Saturday with a second pair of matches beginning at 9:30 a.m. Coastal faces another first-time opponent in Siena before closing the opening weekend against The Citadel, against which the Chants hold a perfect 5-0 all-time record.

Coastal returns six starters from last season's Big South championship team including sophomore outside hitter Leah Hardeman, who was named the conference's 2015 Preseason Player of the Year.

Coastal also returns a pair of seniors in outside hitter Lian Bernett and middle blocker Eszter Nagy. Nagy, a 2015 Preseason All-Big South selection, led the league in hitting percentage in 2014 while pacing the Chants with 106 total blocks. Bernett averaged slightly fewer than two kills per set last season while ranking second on the team with 22 service aces and fourth with 255.5 total points.

Junior Annayka Legros and sophomores Alexis Flynn and Mika Mierzwa round out Coastal's returning starters.

The Chanticleers were chosen to repeat as Big South champions in 2015 after garnering seven first-place votes and 97 of a possible 100 total points in the league's preseason poll of its head coaches.

Coastal begins its season with 12 straight nonconference matches, with only the Sept. 15 contest versus UNC Wilmington scheduled as a home match in The HTC Center.

The Chants begin Big South play at Winthrop on Sept. 15, and host their first conference match at home on Oct. 2 versus High Point.
