Volleyball Drops Two Matches in the Georgia Invite

More Information:

ATHENS, GA. -- The Coastal Carolina University volleyball team (0-3) lost two matches in the Georgia Invite on Saturday in Athens, Ga.  UAB won the three games 30-19, 30-16, and 30-27 while Georgia defeated the Lady Chanticleers 30-15, 30-23, and 30-22.   Coastal gave it a good effort, but unfortunately the other teams came out firing and, despite third game rallies in both matches, couldn’t catch up. The Lady Chanticleers were led in the defeats by junior Nakia Thompson (Lexington, S.C./Lexington), who had 20 kills on the day. Thompson also had seven digs in the evening match against Georgia.  Freshman Jill Nyhof (Alpharetta, Ga./Northview) had 19 kills and freshman Megan Pollard (Naperville, Ill./Naperville) had 17 digs on the day.    CCU returns to action next weekend as they travel to Buffalo, N.Y. for the Western New York Tournament where they will meet Niagara, Fordham and Buffalo.
