Volleyball Tabbed Fourth in Preseason Poll, Nyhof Named to Preseason All-Conference Team

CONWAY, S.C. -- Coastal Carolina was picked fourth in the Big South Conference preseason poll, announced by the league on Tuesday (Aug. 14). The Lady Chanticleers garnered 54 points in the poll voted on by the conference's head coaches and sports information directors.

Defending Big South champion Winthrop claimed the top spot in the poll with 90 points and seven first-place votes. Liberty was selected second with 76 points and four first-place votes, with UNC Asheville followed closely behind in third place with 75 points and three first-place votes. High Point was picked fifth in the poll with Radford and Charleston Southern placing sixth and seventh, respectively.

Also announced on Tuesday was the Big South Preseason All-Conference Team. Sophomore Jill Nyhof (Alpharetta, Ga./Northview) was one of seven players named to the team after receiving 36 points. Winthrop's Shannon Sitzmann was selected as the Preseason Player of the Year.

Coastal Carolina gets the 2007 season underway on Friday, Aug. 24 when the Lady Chants face Tennessee Tech at 5 p.m. at the Louisville Invitational in Louisville, Ky. The Lady Chants open the season at home on Tuesday, Aug. 28 when they welcome the College of Charleston to Kimbel Arena at 7 p.m.
