CONWAY, SC Coastal Carolina volleyball program has released its 2006 schedule, including one home tournament and nine other home matches, head coach Kristen Bauer announced today.
The Lady Chanticleers will open the 2006 campaign with four in-season tournaments, including trips to the Georgia Invite (Aug. 25-26), Western New York Invitational (Sept. 1-2) and the Georgetown Classic (Sept. 8-9) before hosting the Third Annual Microtel Inn and Suites CCU Classic, Sept. 15-16, featuring Xavier, East Tennessee State and North Florida.
Coastal opens Big South Conference play on the road at Charleston Southern, Sat., Sept. 23, before hosting Jacksonville, Sun., Sept. 24. CCU then plays its first conference weekend against defending champion Winthrop, Fri., Sept. 29, and High Point, Sat., Sept. 30.
Following a home match with South Carolina State, Tue., Oct. 3, CCU will be on the road for their next five matches, four of them in conference action. The Lady Chanticleers will then return home to play six of their final eight regular season matches at home, including five league tilts, prior to the 2006 Big South Tournament. Again, the top four seeds will host the opening round games, Tue., Nov. 14., with the semifinals and finals being played at High Point, Fri.-Sat., Nov. 17-18.
"I feel like we have a lot of different and new teams on our schedule this year," Coastal's eighth-year leader said. "We are excited about the trips we are going to be taking. With having a younger team, the schedule should suit us well and be challenging, as well as get us prepared for BIg South Conference play."
CCU posted a 19-12 mark last season, finishing as the regular season runner-up in the Big South Conference.
