Volleyball Announces 2018 Schedule
CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina volleyball team announced its 2018 schedule this week. The back-to-back Sun Belt Conference champions play a total of 29 regular season matches in the fall, including 13 home matches at the HTC Center. Part of the home slate includes the Coastal Carolina Classic, which is set for Sept. 13-15 and includes Pittsburgh, TCU and College of Charleston.
Coastal fans can get an early look at the Chanticleers on August 16 when North Carolina comes to the HTC Center for an exhibition match.
Coastal then begins the regular season and tournament play Aug. 24-25 at Georgia, where it takes on the host Bulldogs on Friday before facing Illinois State and Furman on Saturday.
The next tournament takes Coastal to Honolulu, where the Chants play a trio of matches against Hawaii (Aug. 31), Utah (Sept. 2) and Pittsburgh (Sept. 3).
The Chants' play their final non-conference road matches at Duke the weekend of Sept. 7-8. After opening the tournament against ETSU and Cincinnati on Friday, Coastal finishes the weekend against the Blue Devils on Saturday.
Coastal makes its home debut Sept. 13 when it opens the CCU Classic against College of Charleston in a rare Thursday night contest. The CCU Classic continues on Friday with College of Charleston versus Pittsburgh, and Coastal versus TCU. The tournament ends on Saturday with College of Charleston facing TCU, and Coastal squaring off against Pitt for the second and third times of the season.
The Chants begin their Sun Belt title defense on the road at Georgia State (Sept. 21) and Georgia Southern (Sept. 22).
Coastal then returns to the HTC Center for a four-match home stand, hosting Louisiana (Sept. 28), ULM (Sept. 30), Arkansas State (Oct. 5) and Little Rock (Oct. 7).
Away matches at UTA (Oct. 12) and Texas State (Oct. 13) precede a home-and-home series against Appalachian State, with the Mountaineers hosting the first contest on Oct. 19.
Coastal's home match against Appalachian State on Oct. 21 begins a stretch of five straight matches at the HTC Center for the Chants. Following App, Coastal hosts Troy (Oct. 26), South Alabama (Oct. 28), Georgia Southern (Nov. 2) and Georgia State (Nov. 4).
Coastal finishes the regular season at South Alabama (Nov. 9) and Troy (Nov. 10).
The 2018 Sun Belt Championship, hosted by Georgia State, is set to take place Nov. 15-18 in Atlanta, Ga. Coastal has won the conference title in its two appearances to date, and has won a conference championship each of the last four years, dating back to its final two seasons as a member of the Big South Conference.
