GARDEN CITY - The Coastal Carolina volleyball team recently volunteered at the annual Seaside Elementary School Health, Safety Outdoor Fair.
The event was free and open to the public. The fair had 75 to 80 vendors and had approximately 500 people show up to the event. During the fair kids and adults were able to take part in health screenings, while doctors, firemen, police officers, the Coast Guard and the Department of Natural Resources were on hand to share information.
The Coastal volleyball team promoted women in athletics and leading a fit and healthy lifestyle. The volleyball team taught the younger kids basics of volleyball such as how to pass and allowed the kids to practice those skills through drills.
"Volunteering at the fair, was a great opportunity for our team to reach out and get to know the community, as well as letting the community get to know about our team, as well as about the university," said head coach Jozsef Forman.
"Our players enjoyed teaching the younger generation about volleyball and in turn the youngsters enjoyed learning from our student athletes. We look to continue to reach out to the community and schools."
