CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina volleyball team will be playing in three tournaments during the Spring season, one of which is conference opponent Charleston Southern.

The Chanticleers open up this weekend in Columbia, S.C. at the University of South Carolina with games against Wake Forest, Kennesaw State, USC Upstate and the Gamecocks. Coastal then travels to Winston-Salem, N.C. next weekend to play in Atlantic Coast Conference member Wake Forest's tournament. The Chants will wrap up the Spring season by playing in a tournament hosted by Charleston Southern during the second weekend of April.

"We have had a great couple months of practice and by playing such stiff competition this Spring we will be able to see where we have improved and what area's we need to continue to build upon," said new head coach Jozsef Forman.

"Playing in these games will also help me see how the team performs under pressure. Everyone involved with the program knows the goal of trying to win a conference championship as soon as possibly and by playing these teams we can learn a lot about ourselves and what our next stepping stone needs to be to reach that goal."

Coastal will be playing in its first competition under the direction of Forman and assistant coach Gabe Aramian.

Jamie DiMaggio and Samantha Palka will be leading the squad next year as the two seniors. The Chants have a strong junior presents set for next season with six players returning next season.

"We are really excited about everything that has happened thus far, it's been a lot of hard work but were getting better and making progress," said DiMaggio.

"Everyone and everything is really positive and were loving what Joszef and Gabe are bringing to the program. Our upcoming Spring tournaments are so exciting because it's going to be a challenge, but its only going to make us better for the Fall. Our team is definitely reaching new heights and we can't wait to compete."

The Chanticleers open up the 2012 season in Clemson, S.C. at the Clemson Tournament at the end of August.
