She plans on being a sports management major at Coastal.

"We are thrilled to have Megan join our squad in the fall of 2007," said Head Coach Kristen Bauer commented. "Not only is Megan a great student, she is also a very strong middle blocker with a lethal slide approach. We will look for her to add some speed along the net and contribute right away."

Kimes comes to CCU from Munster High School where she set the school record for most aces in a season during her senior campaign. A four-year letterwinner, she was named to the First-Team All-Area three years, notching Second-Team as a freshman. In her senior year, she picked up First-Team Lake Athletic Conference and team MVP honors. Kimes was also the Post-Tribune Player of the Year in 2006. Kimes was named All-Area, All-Conference and honorable mention All-State as a junior and picked up All-Area, All-Conference and Second-Team All-State as a sophomore.

Kimes was also a three-year letter winner in track and field where she was a three-time state qualifier in the long jump and high jump. She picked up First-Team All-Conference, All-Area as a junior and was named to the First-Team All-State after finishing fourth in the long jump at the state meet. She was also a three-time regional champion.

Kimes played for the Dunes Volleyball Club for two years where her team qualified for Nationals both years and the Celtic Force Volleyball Club for one year where her team finished fifth in the Open Division. She plans on majoring in Pre-pharmacy/biology at Coastal.

"Chelsy is a fierce competitor who plays much bigger than her size," Bauer mentioned. "She is a very explosive hitter with well developed back court skills. I believe Chelsy will be an immediate force and we are excited about her choosing Coastal Carolina."
