Jan. 10, 2018

GUANGDONG, China - Jozsef Forman, head coach of the Coastal Carolina volleyball team, is traveling to China this weekend to assist in heading a two-day elite volleyball camp for high school athletes that will take place at Sun Yat-sen Univeristy (SYSU) from Jan 13-14.

Forman will be working alongside camp director Dr. Tie Ming Li, a professor and head volleyball coach at SYSU. Also helping to lead the camp is Hui Ruoqi, captain of the 2016 Chinese women's national team that won the gold medal at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

The SYSU volleyball team will also be on hand to provide instruction.

The camp is designed to teach advanced skills to high-school aged, elite volleyball players who are looking to continue playing at the next level. China as a country has been very successful in volleyball in the past, winning Olympic gold medals in 1984 (Los Angeles), 2004 (Athens) and 2016 (Rio de Janeiro), an Olympic silver medal in 1996 (Atlanta) and Olympic bronze medals in 1988 (Seoul) and 2008 (Beijing). China has also captured two World Championship golds and four World Cup golds.
