CLINTON - For the second-straight season the Chanticleers of Coastal Carolina are headed to the Big South Conference Tournament Championship match. The Chants used their second-straight sweep as they flew by High Point University 25-12, 25-18, 26-24.

The sweep marks the first time since 1996 that CCU has produced a pair of 3-0 victories at the Big South Tournament. The Chants went on to sweep the championship match in 1996 and advanced to their first NCAA Tournament.

"My team was incredible tonight," said head coach Jozsef Forman. "Hitting over .400 is unbelievable. The third set was crucial for us. When we were tied at 23, we were able to stop High Point in the end and now we are in the final. Congratulations to my team. We look forward to Sunday."

CCU will take on number one seed Radford University on Sunday at 2 p.m. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN3. The Chants won the lone meeting between CCU and Radford this season 3-2 in Radford, Va.

The Chants improve to 19-11 on the season while the Panthers end their season with a 16-15 record.

Sophomore Gabriella Horvath led the Chants Friday evening with 14 kills and four digs. She had just one attack error while compiling a .520 attack percentage. Redshirt sophomore Lian Bernett added 11 kills, five digs and a block. Senior Kindra Bailey led all players with five blocks including three solo.

Senior Lauren Alejo dished out 30 assists while picking up four digs and a pair of blocks. Senior Lindsay Gill led all Chants with nine digs.

The Chants hit .409 as a team while picking up just nine errors. The Panthers had a .226 hitting percentage while picking up 15 errors.

Coastal Carolina stormed out to a 7-2 lead capped by a Gill service ace. CCU stretched the lead to 13-5 following a kill from Bernett. The lead was as much as 12 at 20-8 following consecutive kills by Bailey. The set ended at 25-12 following Alejo's kill.  Bailey led the Chants with four kills in the set. Chelsea Davis recorded three first set kills for High Point.

The Chants took a 2-0 lead into the intermission following a 25-18 second set victory. Coastal got off to a 9-2 start with four players registering at least one kill during the run. The lead opened up to 20-11, following kill from Bernett. Horvath's fourth kill of the set gave CCU a 23-14 lead. HPU cut the lead to 24-18 after Kristin Heldt and Savannah Angel combined for a block. Bernett's fourth kill of the set pushed the final margin to 25-18. 

In a tight third set, Coastal took an 8-5 lead following a 4-0 run which was capped by Jenna Orner's service ace. High Point responded and with the score tied at 11, scored four straight points to take a 15-11 lead. The run started and ended with kills from Davis. Trailing 22-20, Horvath had a kill followed by an Annayka Legros block which tied the score at 22. Horvath ended the match at 26-24 with her seventh kill of the set. High Point's Davis and Heldt each recorded five kills in the third set.
