Amber Campbell Takes Silver; Qualifies for World Championships

EUGENE, Ore. - Amber Campbell, a five-time All-American while at Coastal Carolina, took second place in the hammer to win the silver medal at the 2011 USA Track & Field Championships. Campbell additionally qualifies for the 2011 World Championships.
Campbell had a throw of 220-3 in her second round at this past weekend's USA Outdoor Championships, but would stand in fifth place heading into her final attempt. On her last throw, Campbell posted a mark of 229-10 (70.07) to secure second place. Jessica Crosby, who also competes on Team Nike with Campbell, won the event with a throw of 234-0 (70.52), which came on her first attempt.
Campbell is the five-time USA Indoor champion in the weight throw and the 2010 USA Outdoor champion in the hammer. She will be competing in her third World Championships in the hammer, placing 11th in 2009 in Germany, and represented USA at the 2008 Olympics.
The 2011 IAAF World Championships will be held in Daegu, South Korea, Aug. 27-Sept. 7.
