CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Coastal Carolina women’s track & field standout Kierra Gabe has been named the Big South Conference’s Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, as announced today by the league.

The honor was Gabe’s third of the season and the Chants sixth overall.

Gabe, a junior, finished tied for 18th in the high jump at the NCAA East Preliminary Round with a leap of .75m (5-8.75). The effort tied her own school-record as she was one of only 10 athletes to clear the bar on her first attempt.

The native of Adams Run, N.C., earned the 35 seed in the high jump in the NCAA East Preliminary Round meet with a Coastal Carolina record height of 1.75m (5-8.75). Gabe set the school record at the Penn Relays on April 28. She nearly equaled her record-setting performance at the North Florida Invitational on May 14 as she cleared 1.74m (5-8.50).
