DAEGU, Korea – Former Coastal Carolina University track and field All-American and current volunteer assistant coach Amber Campbell finished seventh in the hammer throw at the 2010 Colorful Daegu Pre-Championships Meeting in Daegu, Korea May 19.
Campbell finished the meet with a 226’4.92” (69.01m) throw. Betty Heidler of Germany won the event with a throw of 246’11.47” (75.28m). Currently, Campbell is ranked third in the IAAF Hammer Throw Challenge behind Anita Wlodarczyk of Poland and Tatyana Lysenko of Russia.
Campbell, a five-time NCAA All-American and 16-time Big South champion, holds the Coastal Carolina school records in the weight throw, indoor shot put, outdoor shot put, discus and the hammer throw. She graduated as the All-Time American Collegiate record holder in the weight throw and the Co-American Collegiate record holders in the hammer throw.
Campbell will head to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil for the Grande Premio Brasil Caixa de Atletismo May 23.
