ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Former Coastal Carolina women’s track and field All-American and current volunteer assistant coach Amber Campbell took home her fifth consecutive USA Indoor Track & Field National Championship in the weight throw, February 26, at the third and final event of the USA Track & Field’s 2011 Indoor Visa Championship Series.

Campbell opened the meet with a 76’3” (23.23m) throw, but won the event on her second throw of 79’5” (24.21m).  In her dominating win, she was an amazing 6’11” ahead of second place finisher Loree Smith.  She still ranks number one in the world in the weight throw and the championship title marks her sixth overall as she is the defending USA National Outdoor Champion in the hammer throw.

Campbell, a five-time NCAA All-American and 16-time Big South champion, holds the Coastal Carolina school records in the weight throw, indoor shot put, outdoor shot put, discus and the hammer throw. She graduated as the All-Time American Collegiate record holder in the weight throw and the Co-American Collegiate record holder in the hammer throw.
